According to MARCA, Everton are looking to replace Yerry Mina with Barcelona prodigy Arnau Comas, who could be signed for free.

What is the story?

Well, MARCA thinks Mina should be on “alert mode” as Everton watches over 21-year-old La Masia Academy graduate Comas.

The prodigy’s contract expires in June, so the Toffees could land him for free.

MARCA believes the Toffees have abandoned Mina, who is highly injury-prone and has missed the last four Premier League games with a thigh problem.

Leicester are also interested in Comas, so Everton have some competition.

MARCA is also advising Mina – for whom Everton paid £ 27.19million – to have a destination in mind if Everton sign the young Spaniard.

Spanish media believe Comas would hurt Mina’s playing time chances and, therefore, her chances of making the Colombian squad for the 2022 World Cup.

In our opinion, Mina was one of the worst recruits under Marcel Brands.

There were quite a few. Alex Iwobi’s £ 34million signing was bizarre, as was Gylfi Sigurdsson’s £ 45million capture.

Mina hasn’t been as bad as those two, although he certainly hasn’t repaid Everton’s trust in him.

The 38-caps Colombia international is also Everton’s biggest earner with £ 120,000 a week.

From a financial standpoint, it doesn’t make sense to keep him at Goodison Park.

At 27, Mina is still in her prime, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a buyer.

Hopefully Everton can make a deal for Comas as it would be a great business to trade the South American with a rising star in Spanish football.
