There has been some unrest in Green Bay this offseason, and there may be more on the horizon.
Franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers ‘dissatisfaction with the Packers’ organization has been well documented, with the future Hall of Fame quarterback apparently standing with one foot out the door.
But Rodgers isn’t the only Packers locker room superstar considering an exit, as All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams is also potentially on the hunt for a new home as he enters the final year of his contract.
Adams will enter the upcoming season in the final year of a four-year, $ 58 million contract he signed in 2017.
And it might be in the Packers’ best interest to try and sign Adams for overtime before he hits free agency in 2022, as he already appears to have his next destination in mind.
In a recent interview with ABC 30 in Central California, he explained how reuniting with Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr would be a “dream come true.”
“I love Derek to death, we have a great friendship,” he said. “We still continue to communicate in a very, very consistent way. He’s one of my best friends.”
It’s no surprise that Adams praised Carr, considering how they formed an explosive blast attack during their studies at Fresno State.
And Carr shares common feelings with Adams.
In a recent interview with ABC, he said that when the time comes, he will work hard to recruit Adams from the Raiders.
âHe’s the best receiver in the NFL,â Carr said. âThe guy is amazing. He’s been one of my best friends since we got to college together. I love the guy.⦠I would always be happy to play with him again. I think that would unlock some things. in both of us that people have I haven’t seen it yet. I’m still open to that and will recruit really hard. When the time comes, it will be a full press. ”
It’s not the first time this offseason that Adams has considered what life would be like away from the Packers.
In an appearance on “The Herd” earlier this offseason, Adams spoke about Rodgers’ situation and said if his quarterback were to leave it could affect his own approach to free agency.
“That would change a lot. It doesn’t mean that I would potentially be gone, but I should definitely think more.”
Davante Adams joins Colin Cowherd to discuss Aaron Rodgers’ frustration with the Green Bay Packers. Hear what Adams has to say about whether Rodgers leaving Green Bay affects his decision to stay with the Packers next year.
Green Bay is known as the “frozen tundra” in winter.
But the heat could be on this coming season.
