Luke Reece, 21, was heard directing abuse at nearby Brighton fans by a member of club staff during the game against Arsenal on October 2.

Reece attempted to leave the floor after realizing he had been seen, but was stopped by staff and police before being arrested.

Following a trial at Brighton Magistrates Court, Reece was found guilty on Thursday of indecent chanting at a designated football match and will serve a three-year football ban.

He was also ordered to pay a fine and costs.

After the verdict, the south coast club will impose new sanctions.

“We have a zero tolerance approach to all forms of anti-social behavior and that includes any form of abuse,” a club spokesman said on Thursday.

“We have worked closely with Sussex Police to identify and prosecute the individual concerned and we welcome the court’s guilty verdict.

“The individual will also be subject to an indefinite ban from the Amex.”
