ERIE – The Curve came out of their Friday night funk thanks to exceptional throwing and just enough attack.

Blake Sabol doubled at home the go-ahead in the sixth inning, and Altoona’s bullpen held him up in a 2-1 win over Erie at UPMC Park. The Curve had lost two in a row and six of seven before the victory.

Omar Cruz (2-2) held Erie to one run on four hits over five innings for the win. Bullpen Curve then pitched four scoreless innings, with Colin Selby working the ninth for his third save.

Lolo Sanchez scored Altoona’s first point at home in the third set to tie the game at 1-1. Sabol then brought Parker Meadows home in sixth with the deciding run.

These teams will play on Saturday and Sunday, then after a day off on Monday, the Curve will return home on Tuesday for a series against Somerset. The team will be at home for the next two weeks.
