Welcome to “Good Morning, Illini Nation,” your daily dose of college basketball news from Illini writer and AP Top 25 voter Scott Richey. He will offer information on Brad Underwood’s team every morning:
Illinois moved up to third in the 2022 class team standings on Tuesday after securing the entry from four-star goalie Jayden Epps. Here’s what two national recruiting analysts had to say about the most recent future Illini:
Illinois gets a volume marker and a hard hit shooter that has the ability to shake buckets like few others in the class when he throws himself.

Epps can sometimes be electric. Its burst and explosiveness are undeniable and it finishes relatively well on the rim with both hands. When he shoots well, he is able to resume games. He will realize his full potential as he becomes more consistent at long range and clears out the bad shots that plague him from time to time. Epps is a versatile defender who is both quick enough and strong enough to defend multiple positions. He will spend the next year trying to become more efficient. If he does, his potential is encouraging. The tools are certainly there in spades.
