Herd hierarchy: Colin's top 10 teams heading into NFL season

Colin Cowherd lists his top 10 NFL teams. Find out which team he thinks will be at the top ahead of the 2022 season.

Colin Cowherd ranked the top 10 teams heading into the 2022 season based on early free agency results. Let’s dive into it.

ten. San Francisco 49ers
Record 2021: 10-7, lost in NFC Championship Game

Colin’s review: “Really it’s about respecting their head coach and their culture. I think Trey Lance can play, I’m not saying he’s top 10. They’ve strengthened the safety and cornerback positions. They are one of eight teams with no first-round picks, but they have plenty of picks. That’s a good list.”

9. Baltimore Ravens
Record 2021: 8-9, missed playoffs

Colin’s review: “Out of respect for the Ravens organization, owner, general manager, coach and quarterback, I put nine on them. They collapsed last year. I looked at the list of players who got injured l last year – it was crazy. Marcus Williams, the number 1 free agent safety on the market, and they needed him. But again, like the Niners, it’s out of respect for the roster, the coach, the quarterback, the general manager.

8. Las Vegas Raiders
Record 2021: 10-7, lost in the round of jokers

Colin’s review: “I think what the Raiders have done in the offseason is the best offseason for the Raiders in the last 20 years. Davante Adams, now with Hunter Renfrow, Darren Waller, Josh Jacobs and Derek Carr, this is going to be an offense top 5. I’m not sure anyone in the league is better at quarterback, running back, tight end, lunge receiver, big play receiver. with Maxx Crosby.

7. Los Angeles Chargers
Record 2021: 9-8, missed playoffs

Colin’s review: “I like the Chargers fullback. I like the Chargers offensive line a lot more than the Raiders. I think the Chargers have a great O line. I also think Justin Herbert has a much higher ceiling. They came out and got JC Jackson on the corner, Khalil Mack to add Joey Bosa. So I think they have less questions. Maybe not as powerful of an attack, but less questions overall.

6. Cincinnati Bengals
Record 2021: 10-7, lost in Super Bowl

Colin’s review: “What did we say about the Bengals? The weakness was the offensive line, and they solidified it. La’el Collins, Alex Cappa, the guard, they went for Hayden Hurst. Look, I know the Super Bowl losers go backwards historically, but I think Joe Burrow is different. I think it’s an offensive league and Zac Taylor is a smart young coach.”

5. Kansas City Chiefs
Record 2021: 12-5, lost in AFC Championship game

Colin’s review: “Let’s slow down on the Kansas City Chiefs, it’s over forever. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is a deep threat, JuJu Smith-Schuster should be a 90 or 80 catch receiver, Justin Reid is a great safety. They don’t still not’ I don’t generate a consistent pass rush in my opinion, but the offensive line will be better in year 2. I have [Patrick] Mahomes, I have Andy Reid, I have playmakers, I’m fine.”

4. Denver Broncos
Record 2021: 7-10, missed playoffs

Colin’s review: “I said I think they’re going to win the division. I think beyond Russell Wilson, the acquisitions of Randy Gregory and DJ Jones, as well as Bradley Chubb on the defensive front, are stunning. That going to be – not good – a big defensive front. And now I have Courtland Sutton, and Tim Patrick, and Javonte Williams, and Jerry Jeudy, and now we have the catalyst for that.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Record 2021: 13-4, lost in NFC divisional round

Colin’s review: “I don’t know if Gronk is going to play, he may arrive late. But I will say this – they lost their two guards and went to get Shaq Mason, so they solved their problem. I think they will draft a porter ball. Leonard Fournette will be back.

2. Los Angeles Rams
Record 2021: 12-5, won the Super Bowl

Colin’s review: “The Rams are better, and they added Allen Robinson, a vastly underrated wide receiver, and Bobby Wagner, who will be a Hall of Famer in the first round, arguably the first or second best center linebacker in the league.”

1. Buffalo Tickets
Record 2021: 11-6, AFC divisional round loss

Colin’s review: “I thought Buffalo was the best team in football at its best last year, I still thought they beat Kansas City, and they added Von Miller, and OJ Howard, and Shaq Lawson, and Jamison Crowder. And they just keep getting better and better. Josh Allen was sensational in the playoffs. In the end, I think they’re the best team in football.
