The Gamecocks are sure to drop the top spot they’ve held all season after their stunning 70-69 overtime loss to Missouri last Thursday night. South Carolina opened a tight game in the second quarter to claim their fourth straight victory over the Bulldogs. The state of Mississippi replaced scheduled opponent Ole Miss due to virus issues.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Tamari Key scored 17 points to lead five Tennessee players in double digits as the No.7 Lady Volunteers rallied to beat Arkansas 70-63. Key scored eight points for Tennessee in a 10-3 run that turned a two-point deficit into a five-point lead with 4:12 remaining. Amber Ramirez led with the Razorbacks with 26 points.

NO DATE (AP) – Want more players to enter the college football playoffs? Turn more bowl games into playoff games. AP college football writer Ralph Russo said players who refused to participate in the boules games became the underlying theme for New Years Day, which was a shame as the games themselves were entertaining, even with some All-Americans missing. Still, it was hard to watch thrilling Fiesta and Rose balls without wondering how much better it would be if these teams played with a chance of winning a national championship. Players are risking millions of future winnings to participate in these playoff games. A bigger playoff gives more of them a reward worthy of the risk.
