Jake Clarke-Salter explains recent Coventry City form

0

Coventry City has been one of the championship’s most notable surprise packages so far this season.

The Sky Blues claimed a well-deserved away victory at Hull City on Saturday, keeping a good buffer between them and the team chasing a top-six spot. Mark Robins has done an incredible job of creating realistic Premier League ambitions at the club after handling them in League Two only a few years ago.

Jake Clarke-Salter has been a stellar deal since being on loan from Chelsea this summer, and he revealed how Coventry is keeping a cool head amid their very exciting form when he took to the club’s website .

He said: “I think we have good players, good young players and we also have experience. May this continue for a long time, we will continue to put these performances in and hopefully continue to collect three points.

“No one guarantees a position in this league, so as long as we continue to focus on ourselves, who knows what we can do.”

With Kyle McFadzean rallying the troops from the center of a back three, the Sky Blues have a very early attacking unit with players developing at a very intriguing rate under Mark Robins.

Clarke-Salter is on his fifth Football League loan and could achieve something very special this season at CBS Arena.

The verdict

Coventry is a serious top six contender, if that wasn’t very clear in the first half of games it certainly is now.

Away form has been a concern all season, exposed in a 5-0 loss to Luton Town a few weeks ago, but if they can take the confidence they gained from their 1-0 win at Hull in the next sequence they will find themselves in a very strong position.

It was a hugely encouraging defensive display at the MKM Stadium on Saturday and Clarke-Salter was a big part of it, if Matt Godden and Viktor Gyokeres can continue to score at the top of the pitch they will continue to surprise teams as the season progresses.
