Man City vs Spurs: Live updates, Premier League clash team news

Manchester City take on Tottenham Hotspur, in what is sure to be an intriguing tie in the context of the Premier League title and the first four races.

In surprising form, defending champions Pep Guardiola enter the game unbeaten in 15 league appearances. Conversely, Antonio Conte will be looking for a reaction from his out-of-form side, after a run of three successive league defeats, against Chelsea, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Returning to the reverse game, Tottenham produced an excellent performance to register a 1-0 victory on the opening weekend through Son Heung-min.

Much of the confidence today will rest in City’s attacking player rotations, with Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden in brilliant recent form as all three scored in their 5-0 win in Champions League against Sporting Lisbon.

Spurs will be desperate to prevent that from becoming a reality, with Son set to be an influential presence as well as City’s sole target, Harry Kane. New signings Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski will also be keen to make their quality known at the start of their Tottenham careers.

In terms of first goalscorer, Raheem Sterling can be a wise investment due to his incredible knack for getting the end of fast attacking moves. With 13 goals in all competitions in 2021/22, his goal contribution rate is up there with England’s best wide men.

But the narrative may well dictate that Harry Kane comes back to haunt City, who chased him last summer. After a difficult season, tonight’s big chance in the North West could be the perfect opportunity for the striker to return to the news.

Take: Kane will be the first scorer (+900)
