A preview of what’s happening in European football on Monday:
Seventh-placed Tottenham host relegation-threatened Everton in the Premier League. Tottenham still have their eye on the European places and come into the game six points behind Arsenal in fourth. Frank Lampard’s Everton have won just once in their last five league games and are just one point above Burnley in the drop zone. In the FA Cup, Nottingham Forest host Huddersfield in the final game of the round of 16. It’s a game between two second-tier teams and the winner will face a tough game against four-time chasers Liverpool in the quarter-finals.
Athletic Bilbao can bounce back from their recent run of poor results when they host bottom-placed Levante in the Spanish league. Athletic have just been eliminated against Valencia in the Copa del Rey semi-finals, where they were trying to reach their third consecutive final after losing the last two. In the league, he was routed 4-0 by Barcelona to run out of steam in the fight for European places. In their last three league games, Levante have won two and drawn after just one victory in their first 23 league matches. A win will move the Valencia side four points from safety.
