Michigan Dance Team Finishes in Top 10 at UDA Dance Team Nationals

ORLANDO, Florida. — The University of Michigan Dance Team won a trio of top 10 finishes, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the Game Day category, at the United Dance Association National Dance Team Championship which s is held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex Friday through Sunday (January 14-17).

Michigan was one of only four teams to earn spots in the Game Day, Jazz and Hip-Hop categories alongside Ohio State, Tennessee and Memphis.

On Friday, January 14, UM scored 91.950 to qualify fourth in the Game Day semifinals. In the final, UM received a score of 92.2167 to place sixth.

On Saturday January 15, the Wolverines qualified for the final in ninth place in each category. The jazz preliminaries came first, with UM notching a score of 89.4783. The Hip-Hop Preliminaries saw a score of 87.7391. A day later on Sunday (January 16), UM took ninth place in each final routine, scoring an 88.6957 on the Hip-Hop routine and a 90.8551 on his Jazz routine.

The Wolverines entered the weekend after an intense period of training, while adjusting to a busy schedule that included travel to the UM football team‘s Big Ten championship game and appearance in college football playoffs at the Orange Bowl.
