Peter J. Spinuzza

ROCTON – Peter J. Spinuzza, 85, of Brocton, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Westfield Memorial Hospital.

Pete was born January 30, 1936 in Brocton, NY, the son of the late Marion Sr. and Lucy (Ingavo) Spinuzza.

Mr. Spinuzza has lived his entire life in Brocton and attended Brocton Central School. After high school, he worked for the Altech specialty steel plant in Dunkirk, NY, as a machinist. He worked there for over 50 years and retired at the age of 77.

He was a faithful parishioner of the former St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Brocton, now St. Dominic’s until his death.

Peter was a member of United Steel Workers Local 2693, Westfield Moose Lodge 118, and a former member of the Moniuszko Social Club in Dunkirk, NY. He was a sports enthusiast, with his favorite teams being the New York Yankees, the Cleveland Browns, Syracuse The Orangemen and the Irish fighters from Notre Dame. He could often be seen attending several sporting events in high school cheering on his beloved Bulldog teams.

Peter enjoyed making red wine, gardening, canning his crop which included tomatoes and making pasta sauce. He was a handyman man capable of fixing anything that was broken inside or outside the house. He was passionate about classical country music.

Peter is survived by his children; Tammy (Dan) Wolnik from Florida, Mindy Spinuzza also from Florida; her son, Marcus (Tracey) Spinuzza of Silver Creek; brothers: James, Marion Jr., and Thomas Spinuzza and beloved sister, Mildred Spinuzza; and his brother-in-law, Floyd Carpenter. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Lucas, Jennica, Alyssa, Rhett, Nicole, Kaelyn, Jacob, Gabby and Briana; great-grandchildren: Sophia, Lena, Gage and Sylas; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Gizmo.

Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his son, Darrin Spinuzza, who died in 2018; his brothers: Jack, Pietro, Leonard and Salvatore Spinuzza; and her sisters: Angeline Taber, Catherine Carpenter and Joséphine Spinuzza.

Family and friends are welcome to call MORSE FUNERAL HOME, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, NY, TODAY, October; 14, 2021, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Christian funeral mass will be held on Friday October 15, 2021 at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 12 Central Ave., Brocton, NY 14716 at 11:00 am with Bro. David Tourville officiating. Interment to follow at Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
