Ruben Neves is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and he’s talked about some of the toughest opponents in the division.

When asked who was the best midfielder he had played against, Neves replied: “[Xabi] Alonso and [Sergio] Busquets, who but I will also say one from the Premier League — Thiago.

“When I played against Xabi Alonso (at Bayern), Thiago was there too…it was a tough game! Thiago is one of the toughest. So smart. Quality, physicality, he’s one the best.

“I can also say N’Golo Kante, it’s impossible to get the ball back from him and, defensively, he’s a monster. But my first choice would be Thiago.

Thiago is an elite operator, who has won many trophies in his time and the same goes for Kante.

They are so experienced but when Neves is their age – Thiago and Kante are both 30 – chances are he will be at their level.

He’s got their quality on the ball and been playing at the highest level for a long time now and he’s not even close to his peak.
