FLINT – Four Flint-area teams have advanced to the second round of the high school football playoffs with wins on Friday night and two will play at home in this week’s district round.
All games are at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Grand Blanc, No. 4 in the Associated Press final standings, will host the unranked Howell in Division 1. The match will be played at Goodrich.
At 10-0, the Bobcats tied a school record for single-season wins after beating Holt 25-6 last week. Howell comes off a 35-18 victory over Hartland.
In Division 4, Lake Fenton (9-1) will host Freeland. The Blue Devils are coming off a 41-0 win over Ortonville Brandon in a Week 3 rematch, when Brandon claimed a wild 48-40 victory.
Lake Fenton was No. 6 in the latest AP poll. Freeland finished eighth. Freeland beat Goodrich 22-3 last week.
In Division 5, La Coruna (6-4) will go to Armada (7-3). Neither team made it to the final AP standings.
Corunna shutout Powers Catholic 30-0 at Atwood Stadium as the Armada ended a three-game losing streak with a 21-0 victory over Richmond.
In Division 7, reigning state champion New Lothrop (7-3) will visit the mighty Pewamo-Westphalia.
New Lothrop, who also won the Division 7 state title, is making his 22nd straight playoff appearance. This is a record in the Flint region.
The Hornets are coming off a 34-7 victory over Montrose, who won their encounter 35-14 in Week 5.
Undefeated Pewamo-Westphalia, ranked No.2 in the final poll, won the Division 7 state titles in 2016, 2017 and 2019. The Pirates defeated New Lothrop 36-35 in the 2019 regional title match.
