Week 8 Flashback

The defense set the tone on Thursday night as Ponchatoula scored three defensive touchdowns against Fontainebleau while Slidell forced two second-half turnovers to hang on against Covington. Salmen’s defense continued to dominate, holding Pearl River’s Brian Jenkins 30 yards away. St. Paul’s and Mandeville had an overtime thriller as Lakeshore continued their district winning streak.

Springfield 42, Pope John Paul II 34: The Jaguars led up to 15 points at the start, but Springfield rallied with 20 points in the fourth quarter to claim the District 10-2A victory. Pope (3-4, 0-1) also had the opportunity to tie the score two minutes from time, but the conversion attempt was unsuccessful. George Arata scored three goals while Kymh Colar and Zack Dauzat each scored one touchdown.

Saint-Thomas d’Aquin 40, Northlake 0: The Falcons scored all 40 points in the first half and headed for the District 10-2A shutout victory over Northlake (1-6, 0-1).
